8th grade music production
unit 3: Sound Editing

In this unit, students will edit and adapt songs from the popular canon using Audacity, an open source digital audio editor and recording computer software.  Students will focus on remixing pre-existing music by manipulating form, tempo, texture, and dynamics.

STANDARDS
Creating Anchor Standard 1: Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work.
Responding Anchor Standard 7: Perceive and analyze artistic work.
Connecting Anchor Standard 10: Synthesize and relate knowledge and personal experiences to make art.

The creative ideas, concepts, and feelings that influence musicians' work emerge from a variety of sources.

RWE & SUMMATIVE

Students will create a promotional remix to advertise an upcoming radio concert.
Students will perceive and conceptualize an original mash-up be creating a new form and texture.
