  3. How do objects, artifacts and artworks collected, preserved or presented, cultivate appreciation and understanding?

What to Teach

Art Museums
  • I can define the following terms: museum, exhibit, gallery, docent.
  • I can find the following information about an artwork: title, artist name, media, year created.
  • I can compare and contrast artwork from different time periods.

Student Practice

“Your Museum Visit” video from the Art Institute of Chicago.
Research an artwork and report on the title, artist name, media and year created.
Compare and contrast two or more works of art. (class discussion, Venn diagram, collaborative grouping, etc.)
