7th grade music theory & practice
unit 1: music theory & notation
In this unit, students will be prepared and trained in the language of music to be able to perform like a true musician in the field. Students will explore and grow through their own education of rhythm and melody while gaining skills that will assist in performance and other subject areas.

Through composing and improvising, people learn to connect ideas with symbols, sound patterns, and musical elements.
VOCABULARY

Students will compose original rhythms and perform them in groups and in combination with other performers.
Students will write and present original stories created using words spelled in music notation.
Students will be assessed on their ability to read and write rhythms and music notation.
